Find something that Moves You

Dec 03, 2025

I recently signed up for another Ironman.  It’s been a few years since I’ve done an Ironman and as of this year, I did not have another one in my sights.  I was happily racing 70.3’s with no intention of doing another Ironman any time soon.  That changed when Ironman announced that they were going back to a 1-day men’s and women’s format in Kona.  Now I find myself mentally preparing for the training ahead to try and earn a slot to Kona 2026.

I have done 21 Ironman races, but I don’t take signing up for an Ironman lightly.  I will not sign up for an Ironman unless I FEEL it.  I must have that inner excitement.  I must have a why.  It’s something you can’t force.  It’s either there, or it isn’t.  This is usually one of the first things I ask an athlete if they are contemplating signing up for an Ironman ,70.3 or any race for that matter.  I truly believe there must be a deep desire to do one.  It’s a very big commitment and if the desire and excitement to do one isn’t there, it’s probably not a great idea to sign up.  As I write this, I am excited about the training ahead, so I know deep down it is a good idea for me.  I trust my gut.  I love having a big goal on the horizon and for 2026, this is it!

I have many athletes contemplating which races they want to do this year.  My answer is to pick the one(s) that gets you excited, pick a race that moves you in some way.  Maybe it’s a specific venue, or a specific race distance that excites you.  Maybe doing it with friends (we had 23 Iron Fit Endurance Athletes in IMNY70.3 this year and it was a blast!).  Whatever it is, find your why, trust your gut and you’ll know it’s the right one when you feel that excitement!

I’m really looking forward to 2026, but I always like to reflect on the year that passed.  Here is my 2025 IFE season recap in pictures.  It was another incredible season, and I truly am lucky to coach Iron Fit Endurance.  Here are some of my athletes throughout 2025!
